Require approval before posting, add a Manager role, and review clips with timestamped comments.

With clip approvals on, members send clips for review and managers approve them. Only approved clips can be posted or scheduled.

Plan: Enterprise. On other plans the setting shows "Clip approvals are available on Enterprise plans."

Turn it on

  1. As the owner of your main workspace, go to Settings → Team.
  2. In the Clip approvals card, turn on Approval required before posting.

It applies to every sub-team in the workspace.

Manager is a role you set on a member's page under Role: "Managers can do everything an editor can, and also review and approve clips." Approvers get an Approvals entry in the sidebar with a count of what's waiting.

Send a clip for review

On the clip card, click Request review. The card shows "Sent for approval" and the clip's status becomes Waiting for approval.

Every folder page has three tabs with counts: All clips, Under review (waiting and changes requested) and Approved.

Review a clip

  1. Open the clip's Review.
  2. Play it and pause where you want to comment. Write under Comment at MM:SS. Clicking a comment later jumps to that moment.
  3. Commenting sends the clip back to its owner with the status Changes requested. Approve is off while comments are open: "Clips with open comments can't be approved."
  4. When it's right, click Approve.

Fix and resubmit

A clip with changes requested shows See comments on its card. Fix it in the editor and click Send for approval again.

What approval controls

  • Post or schedule is off until the clip is approved: "This clip needs to be approved before it can be posted." The server enforces this on publish and repost too.
  • Editing an approved clip sends it back for review. Just opening it doesn't.
  • Downloading a clip isn't blocked by approval.
